Identity hazards

Compare Hawaii cruise ports

Same island does not mean the same harbour. Use this table before you book anything that assumes the wrong pier.

Hilo / Hawaii IslandHilo13dockHilo ≠ Kona. Both are Hawaii Island ports but separate cruise call points. “Big Island” alone is not schedule provenance.
Kona / Hawaii IslandKailua-Kona12tender (tender)Kailua-Kona (and marketing “Kona”) resolve to this port only — never to Hilo. Generic Big Island is not enough provenance.
KauaiNawiliwili16dockNawiliwili is the Kauai cruise port. Generic “Kauai” alone is not schedule provenance. Port Allen is not this site’s cruise identity.
MauiKahului15dockKahului ≠ Lahaina. Lahaina is a separate reserved call identity (PortCall 21) and is not published as an active cruise programme here.
OahuHonolulu11dockHonolulu is the schedule port — not generic Oahu, and not other Hawaiian islands. Pearl Harbor and Waikiki are excursion geography.

Hilo vs Kona

Both sit on Hawaii Island, but they are opposite coasts and separate cruise calls. Hilo is typically docked and the practical gateway for Volcanoes National Park. Kailua-Kona is a tender call with coffee, historic town, and west-side water themes. “Big Island” alone is not schedule provenance.

Nawiliwili vs “Kauai”

Marketing often says Kauai; schedules name Nawiliwili. This hub treats Nawiliwili as the cruise identity. Port Allen is not our cruise port model.

Kahului vs Maui (and Lahaina)

Active Maui cruise planning here is Kahului. Lahaina is a separate reserved identity (PortCall 21) and is not published as an active programme: Lahaina is a separate Maui call identity from Kahului. It is reserved only — not published as an active cruise programme on this hub until verified operations and PortCall evidence support it.

Honolulu vs “Oahu”

Ships schedule Honolulu. Pearl Harbor and Waikiki are excursion geography you reach from that harbour — not alternate cruise ports.

Dock vs tender

Docked calls still need pier and security buffer. Tender calls (Kailua-Kona) compress usable shore time further. We never invent a numeric tender buffer — plan conservatively and confirm locally.
